Children’s Program: The Labyrinth
led by Lydia Huttar Brown

the canvas. It's ready for use! For the remaining Wednesdays we'll
be using it for walking meditation, and doing other labyrinth-related
activities and art. Click on the picture for more photos.
Remember That You Are Dust:
A Courageous Look at the End of Life
led byBob Furniss
Bob will lead a discussion on some of the
end-of-life issues we all need to face, sharing from his experience as both a
parish priest and a hospital and hospice chaplain. Topics will include: what
makes thinking about death hard; advance directives, living wills, and wills;
what scripture says about the end of this life and what lies beyond; planning
your own funeral; and bereavement and grief: how survivors find the new
“normal.”
Spirituality and the Simpsons
led by Mark Brown
George Bush the elder once denounced it; his wife Barbara called it
dumb. Former education secretary William Bennett questioned its values.
But The Simpsons turned out to be family friendly and full of
faith (Mark I. Pinsky, The Gospel According to the Simpsons).
What made The Simpsons so popular and durable? What lessons does
the program have for viewers of varying spiritual, moral, political, and
social stripes?

New Artwork
in the Sanctuary
Woodcut Prints
At first glance they look like a
shortened version of “Stations of the Cross.” But look closer, from
right to left; it’s the story of the Prodigal Son. These original
woodcut prints, by Cara Hochhalter, were taken down two years ago when
we painted the sanctuary, and are just now returning. The parable they
depict appears only in the gospel of Luke, and we will be hearing it on
the fourth Sunday in Lent.

Tanzanian Banner
The new banner hanging in the sanctuary is made of kitenge fabric
from Tanzania and was handmade by a local craftswoman in Monduli. Mark
and Julie Cutler delivered over $500 for books on behalf of St. Anne’s
to two secondary schools in Monduli. As a gesture of thanks and as a
reminder of our partnership with the people of Monduli, the banner now
hangs at St. Anne’s. In Swahili, they say, “Mungu awabariki,” or God
bless you. Thank you for your support of Operation Bootstrap Africa and
of schools in Tanzania.
