Ministries at St. Anne's

How to get involved

programs &activities  2008

As a newcomer or member of St. Anne’s, participation in your areas of interest will help you develop friendship and spiritual companionship with other members.  Involvement will help you grow in your spiritual life.  In addition, St. Anne’s needs your involvement – your time and talent – to help us thrive as a community of faith.

If you have an interest in something not found here, please speak with the priest or any vestry member.  Your creativity and your faith can help us develop programs that will speak to the spiritual needs and interests of our community.

Belize Mission

In February 2008 St. Anne’s is sending a team of 18 adults to help build Holy Cross Anglican School.  With personal funds, assistance from St. Anne’s through fundraisers, and a major contribution from the local chapter of Rotary International, we are beginning what we hope will be an ongoing relationship with this Central American country where our rector’s son survived a non-fatal drowning in 2003.  To learn more about the school, visit www.holycrossbelize.org

Parties and Receptions

Throughout the year there are events at church to celebrate whatever needs celebrating.  Twelfth Night, Easter Vigil party, Easter brunch, Harvest dinner…  Come and have fun!

ADMINISTRATION & FINANCE

Keeping things running smoothly “behind the scenes” at St. Anne’s takes the expertise and gifts of those who understand money, contracts, investment, and record keeping.  Some of the areas where you could help out are:

Personnel

Help with staff contracts, and with any grievances.  Help with annual reviews, job descriptions — anything related to staff issues at St. Anne’s.

Finance

Budget planning, oversight

Endowment and Planned Giving

St. Anne’s small endowment is growing. The committee meets every now and then to oversee the endowment.  We encourage all members to consider special gifts to the endowment, and to make provision for St. Anne’s in your will.

Annual Audit

St. Anne’s shares auditing with another St. Paul Episcopal Church.  Nobody should have to do this year after year unless they simply love it! It would be great to have a “bank” of willing folks, so different ones can take their turn.

Contracts with our Tenants - Tenant Liaison Team

St. Anne’s rents space to many outside groups. Each has a contract which must be periodically reviewed.  With the churches that rent from us we have a special relationship, including regular meetings to deal with issues as they arise. If this special ministry interests you, speak with Lydia.

Safe Church Administration

Keeping records of who needs Safe Church, who has completed it, who needs to renew.

Safe Church Trainer

Receive training from the Diocese of Minnesota trainers, so we can provide Safe Church training right here at St. Anne’s.  Speak with Lydia

Office Helper

Put your name on a list of people we can call when there are big projects — like assembling this booklet! — or when the Office Administrator needs to be gone and we need someone to answer the phone and run the copier.

STEWARDSHIP

Stewardship is a way of life.  It is the recognition that all we are and all we have comes from God, and we are entrusted with using these resources wisely.  Stewardship includes our time, talent and treasure — all to be used for good in this world and for God’s glory.  Some of the particular things involved in Stewardship programming include:

Fall Pledge Drive

Gifts Discernment

Time and Talent Database

Stewardship Education

Stewardship for children

Planned Giving/Endowment

If you are interested in any of these things, speak with Pat or Lydia or any vestry member.  Programs we don’t have yet can be developed if there is interest.
