August 22, 2008 St. Anne's Youth Lock-In September 7, 2008 Blessing of the Backpacks - all students of every age are encouraged to bring your backpacks or bookbags to church to be blessed, as symbols of asking God's blessing on our new academic year. September 7, 2008 New Sunday Morning Schedule - 9:15 Education Hour, 10:30 AM Worship. Adult Education at 9:15; Children's and Youth Education begins October 5. September 10 Choir rehearsal resumes after summer hiatus - 7:30 PM September 14 Shared Worship with Spirit of Hope Catholic Community, followed by cookout. (Outdoor worship, weather permitting) September 21 Ministry Fair follows morning worship October 3 First Friday Film Festival begins. "For the Bible Tells Me So" -- a documentary profiling 5 Christian families who have gay or lesbian children. Featuring House Majority Leader Richard Gephardt and Bishop Gene Robinson. Learn more at the film's official website www.forthebibletellsmeso.org Doors open at 6:30 PM and the film begins at 7:00 PM. Moderated discussion will follow the film. Sponsored by Saint Paul Area Council of Churches. Sign up to be part of St. Anne's "neighborhood". October 24-25 Diocesan Convention in Rochester November 2 All Saints' Day Celebration & Remembrance of the Departed November 7 First Friday Film Festival - "The Power of Forgiveness." Following the massacre of young girls in an Amish schoolhouse, the Amish people forgave the gunman and insisted that any help given to them would be shared with his widow. This film explores the role of forgiveness in healing and grieving. It won "Best Documentary" at the Sun Valley Spiritual Film Festival in 2007. Childcare and a movie for children will be shown in another room. Doors open at 6:30; Film begins at 7:00. Discussion following film. November 21-23 Teens Encounter Christ - a weekend of inspiration, friendship, and spiritual growth. November 26 Thanksgiving Eve Worship, 7:30 PM December 5 First Friday Film Festival -- "Affluenza" -- A PBS documentary.
